1st & 2nd Grade

(Fall) Faithful Journeys by Alice Anacheka-Nasemann and Lynn Ungar

Interacting with stories from our faith heritage and stories about contemporary Unitarian Universalists, children build their UU identity and explore ways to use their personal agency in service to UU Principles. Children learn how our UU faith helps us empathize with others and affirm the inherent worth and dignity of every person.

(Spring) Moral Tales by Elisa Pearmain and Alice Anacheka-Nasemann

Moral Tales helps children identify and articulate their own sense of right and wrong.  As they interact with a variety of stories from different faith traditions and share stories from their own lives, kids are encouraged to articulate and apply their own spiritual compass to find moral direction.  They earn “gems of goodness” for behavior that reflects positive moral choices and explore why it is not always easy to follow one’s inner voice and choose behaviors that are good and just.

The purpose of learning is growth, and our minds, unlike our bodies, can continue growing as we continue to live.
