Stewardship

“Stewardship is about taking care of something we value and enabling it to grow. When we become stewards, we take responsibility and contribute our time, talent and treasure.”

– Unitarian Universalist Association

Together We Thrive! Our congregation has come a long way over the last five years. We undertook a monumental rebuilding after facing multiple difficulties a few years ago. Together, we have thrived.

Now we face a different kind of upheaval—in our politics, the economy, and the stock market, to name only a few. Amid the turbulence, we continue to worship together in our beautiful sanctuary. We listen, reflect, sing, and remember that love is at the center of our faith. We care for one another with flourishing pastoral care where everyone can thrive spiritually, emotionally and physically.

We have a strong and experienced new minister on the way who will follow our two transitional co-ministers who helped us rebuild. New members abound and young families are gracing our sanctuary and Religious Exploration activities for children and youth. We count on and enjoy small group ministries, spiritual events, and the many, many social activities that keep us engaged and connected.

We are very grateful to you—all of our members and friends who support UUSM. And, it has taken ALL of us to live into our shared values and aspirations. In the same way, it will take all of us to thrive financially. Right now, we’re concerned that we are relying too heavily on a few people as this graphic illustrates.

So, as fellow stewards of our beloved community, if you can increase your contribution—as you are able—maybe even to the next level, then we’ll be able to take a step toward distributing the support more broadly across the congregation. This will help to ensure that our community will be sustainable into the future.

We understand that financial uncertainty affects each of us differently. Some may be unable to give as they have in the past, while others may be in a position to offer a little more. What matters most is that we show up for one another in the ways we can—whether through financial contributions, volunteering, or simply being present in community.

We invite you to join us in this act of generosity. Our goal is to reach $510,000 and your support will help us get there! Please respond here to let us know your planned contribution for 2025–26, or you can use the beautiful green form that you received in the mail. There will also be forms in the Sun Room. Please complete the process by May 18, so that the Finance Committee and Board can complete the budget for the June 8 Congregational meeting.

Together, we create a home for love, spiritual growth, justice, and joy. Together, we will continue to thrive.

With gratitude and hope,
