Covid Task Force Update 5/5/22

Updated: May 12, 2022

(please scroll to the bottom for a bullet point list of current Covid Safety Guidelines)

In-person (hybrid) services are happening every Sunday in Beck Hall. We require proof of vaccination and masking for everyone during Sunday services. Please bring your proof of full vaccination (including booster). We feel strongly that our community benefits greatly from in-person time together. With that in mind, we believe that our best defense against the virus, while maintaining our sense of community, is two-way masking. Not all masks are equal. We strongly encourage everyone to wear well fitting KF94, KN95 or N95 masks that covers your nose and mouth. We have high-quality KN95 masks available if you want or need one. Please enter Beck Hall at ramp entrance to the far right of our main entrance on Ellsworth. Ushers will be there to check-in and greet you. Or join us online via Zoom!

At this time, Worship Leads have the option to not wear a mask at the pulpit, BUT they must have a negative Covid test result within 24 hours prior to Sunday Service.

With community in mind wearing masks is now encouraged but optional outdoors (in the cottage garden and courtyard). Additionally food and drink may be served outdoors during coffee hour, or large and small group meetings, activities and events. With inclusivity and the health of the most vulnerable amongst in mind, masks continue to be required indoors and no food or drink may be served indoors.

The cottage garden and living room are available for small groups that would like to meet in-person. At this time, the capacity for the living room is 6. Contact Paula, our office manager, office@uusanmateo.org to reserve space for your group. The Covid Task Force changed their scheduled meeting day to the 1st Thursday of every month 6:00-7:00pm via zoom. Feel free to attend! The link can be found on the UUSM website and in the weekly bulletin. We welcome and encourage comments, questions and feedback. Please email mft@uusanmateo.org

Current Covid Safety Guidelines:

  • Masks are to be worn at ALL times indoors. The only exception being Worship Leads that have tested negative for Covid within 24 hours prior to the service. If they meet this criteria, they have the option to remove their mask at the pulpit. It should be established who is verifying this for each service. There are test kits available in the cottage bathroom.

  • We strongly encourage the wearing of quality 95 masks. There should be Kn95s available at the check table in adult and child sizes.

  • Everyone that enters UUSM must be fully vaccinated including the third booster vaccination and have provided proof (either on the existing list available from Paula in the office, or showing proof upon arrival). Small group leaders are responsible for checking group members vaccine status.

  • We also recommend that doors are open to encourage airflow in the building.

  • Capacity numbers:

Beck Hall = 40

Sanctuary = 60

Anne Benner Room = 20

(Total Indoor main building capacity = 120)

Cottage living room = 6
